Maria de Ridder

AnnaMaria and Puck

Books about attention, to read together with a child. And Puck, an app for the grown-ups beside a child.

A heart of amethyst

The books

Maria de Ridder makes the stories of AnnaMaria and Puck. Each book is there in Dutch and in English.

a Head Full

In Dutch: een Hoofd Vol

AnnaMaria comes home from school with a head full of thoughts: a little bird, a drawing for Grandma, hard sums, dance class, Lotte's new house. Puck helps her to set them around her like pictures and to look at them one by one. Each thought begins at a different drawer.

Meeting AnnaMaria and Puck

In Dutch: Kennismaken met AnnaMaria en Puck

In this book you meet AnnaMaria, and Puck, the little cabinet with six coloured drawers. Each drawer is a way of meeting a moment. At the back there is a part for the grown-ups.

The app

Puck and the six drawers

Puck is an app for adults who work with or care for children: parents, grandparents, teachers, and anyone who stands beside a child. The app is not for children themselves. You use it together with a child, or on your own, when you want to think about something that is on a child’s mind.

The six drawers

A head full? Set the thoughts around you like pictures and look at them one by one. You choose which thought to begin with, and at which drawer. Each drawer comes with a question from the book, and a page from a Head Full with its picture. There are no points or stars, and nothing is right or wrong.

  • Blue, the water drop: observing
  • Red, the spiral: feeling
  • White, the little cloud: a little space
  • Yellow, the star: discovering meaning
  • Green, the bouncy ball: the first small step
  • Purple, the amethyst: keeping wisdom

Talking with Puck

If you want to think further about a thought, you can talk with Puck in a drawer. Puck is not a coach. He gives no advice and no verdict, and he does not compare with other children. He sets out with you what happened, asks about what is being felt, looks with you at what it means, and gives you an overview at the end. When he tells you something he knows or has looked up, he says where it comes from.

What stays on your phone

The drawers work without an account and without the internet. What you fill in without talking with Puck stays on your phone. To talk with Puck you need an account, and then that conversation goes to our platform.
